I just used the last piece of frozen blackcurrant from my parents’ garden to make this delicious batch of jam. They are perfect on a homemade bun!
Blackcurrant Jam
Ingredients
- 1 kg blackcurrants
- 600 g sugar
- 1½ dl water
- 2 letters of vegan gel or 8g agar agar
Instructions
- Rinse blackcurrants and remove any stems
- Put the blackcurrants in a saucepan and cook for 5 min while stirring
- Add sugar to the saucepan and cook for another 10 minutes while stirring
- Whisk the boiling water and gel together and pour in the pan as well
- Continue to cook the jam for 2 more min while stirring until the jam begins to thicken
- Then pour the jam into clean jars and store them in a cool place
