The pear season is beginning soon!
So, here’s a recipe for sweet preserved pears served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, which goes together great with the pears.

Sweet pickled pears
Sweet pickled pears with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce
Equipment
- Jar (about 1.5 L)
Ingredients
Sweet pears
- 1 kg pear
- 500 g sugar
- 2 dl water
- 1/2 dl apple vinegar
- 2 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp liquid atamon
Chocolate sauce
- 3 dl heavy whipping cream
- 225 g dark chocolate in pieces (at least 60% cocoa)
Instructions
Sweet pears
- Peel the pears
- Cut each pear into four pieces and remove the core of the pears
- Mix the sugar, water, vinagar, lemon juice, and vanilla in a saucepan and bring it to a boil
- Add the pears to the saucepan when the sugar has dissolved
- Let the pears boil till they are tender (when you poke a piece of pear with a fork it should easily slide off the fork again)
- Put the pears in the jar
- Let the mixture in the sauce pan boil for an extend of about 5 min
- Add the atamon to the mixture and put the mixture in the jar
- Close the jar at once
Chocolate sauce
- ! This should be made just before serving
- Bring the heavy creme to a boil in a saucepan while stiring
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chocolate – still stiring
- Put the sauce in a sauceboat and serve the pears and ice cream
